Hello out there!
We DID it! It only took us 5 hours (I was expecting it to take at least 6)!!!
We set off at 9.15 am (after all the faffing of popping extra layers on as 'twas v cool weather today). We made it our mission to say 'hello' and 'good morning' to all & sundry and some people actually replied. I was so chuffed!!!
My second mission was to wave at most of the traffic on the way there, and lots of people waved back. How cool is that?!! But boo to all the miserable bums who ignored me!
See our captioned pics below & I'll describe a bit more of our adventure (bearing in mind I really am quite tired)
9.45 Here's us when we'd got to Crawley. The first one is Naomi (I had to get Tim's name on her bum for him to sponsor us!!)
9.45 This is me - believe me it's an improvement!!
9.35 Here's another for Tim...
10.00 Look, Naomi's got a wheel for a tail, go oon, give us a wiggle!!!
Re: above, we'd just been through Handcross and had reached Staplefield. This route is quite safe as most is off-road and when it's on road it's either cycle paths or 'B' roads.
11.30 By this point, I'd just been pooed on by some inconsiderate flying feathered foe - can these things not be toilet trained? Look below - we've been through 'Warninglid' (where on earth did they get that name from?!!) Bolney and Sayer's Common. We couldn't believe how fast we got there! And check out the helmet hair! So attractive!
12.30 Look what we found - little lambies!! They were adorable, smelly and bleeted lots, but it kept us amused for a couple of moments.
12.30 Yep, we bin a looooong way and we is rather exhausted - PUT THAT CAMERA DOWN NICOLE!!!
12.30 Here's a parting pic of the lambs...so, which one o' ewes for dinner..?! (Oh the old ones are the best!)
1.00 We arrived here, at this sign with the miles obscured by Nicole's pretty head! But we were over two thirds closer to Brighton by this stage. (No, Naomi, this is no time to pick your spots!!)
1.05 Naomi, where are you?...Nicole what's that screaming...?!!...Well to explain what you're lookin' at below - it was around the corner from the above sign - the entrance to a woods was covered with ever-so-bizarre natural sculptures. So that's Naomi being attacked by a spider!!
1.10 On further inspection, take a look at this 12' man! You know what they say about hands & feet now, don't you?!! (It had to be said!). How wierd to see this in the woods! Well, apart from my attractive pulled up socks, the wooden twig man was pretty wierd too!
1.30 These bloody tourists, Bill, they do my head in. All we want is a bit of peace, but instead we get a bunch of nose-ringless cyclists oggling at our nether parts... Yes, these are the 3 bulls we met...at a safe distance of course - and yes I can count - you just can't see the other one unfortunately!
1.31 'Ho, ho - very funny' thinks Naomi! But we had better be going, as they're starting to look a bit bull-shy (get it?! Bullshy, Bolshy, c'mon, smile, it's not that bad a joke!!)
2.00 After negotiating Brighton's busy roads what with a 'home' match on and the festival (it's on til 29th May - no need to miss out!)YEAH, we made it!!! Woohooo!!
END OF RIDE...beginning of beer..hee, hee
And that's all folks!!
